This house is elevated about 20 metres above the water and is set
in a bush reserve jutting out into Rocky Bay just north of the
Tutukaka Harbour entrance.
The house foot print was limited because of the bush reserve boundaries but the contours of the land enable us to design a semi circular house with views due east to the Pinnacles and Sugar Loaf Islands from the living areas and main bedroom. The remaining bedrooms face a more northerly aspect and have elevated views of a pristine bay in the corner of the larger Rocky Bay. Constructed of Cedar weatherboard, stone veneer and aluminium joinery with a copper tray roof. The floor is suspended concrete on concrete piles with a structural steel frame supporting the walls and roof. Completed by Ian Butt under Butt Design Group. |
