22.11.2011 - knoll ridge cafe wins national award in the tourism & leisure category in rmb national awards
Stanley Construction took out the tourism and leisure category of the commercial devision in the 2011 Registered Master Builders National Awards held in Auckland. Stanley Construction and the Knoll Ridge Cafe managed to clinch first place in its category against some worthy competition. Congratulations on another great achievement.
7.11.2011 - knoll ridge cafe recognized in nzia local architecture awards
On Friday Grant attended the NZIA 2011 Western Architecture Awards in Palmerston North. The Cafe was recognized in the Commercial Architecture Category. The judges commended the project stating "the result is a stunning building that sits comfortably in the snowscape, mimicking the terrain with its unique yet simple roof form."
The Local Architecture Awards will determine which architects will go forward to the New Zealand Architecture Awards.
The New Zealand Architecture Awards is the official awards programme conducted by the New Zealand Institute of Architects and its eight constituent branches throughout the country. Awards are made in various categories reflecting the scope of work undertaken by New Zealand architects.

12.10.2011 - nz wood timber design awards 2011
Last night Grant attended the 2011 NZ Wood Timber Design Awards evening in Auckland where the Knoll Ridge Cafe received another Award. This time the Cafe was recognized by NZ Wood for Commercial Architectural Excellence - Highly Commended.

25.07.2011 - stanley construction / knoll ridge cafe wins 4 awards at the waikato master builders awards
Last Friday Grant attended the 2011 Waikato Registered Master Builders House of the Year & Commercial Awards evening in Hamilton along with Stanley Construction.
RAL Knoll Ridge Cafe was entered in the Commercial Awards in the Tourism and Leisure Category against three other strong contenders.
The Cafe won a GOLD award for its entry. It then went on to win the Category (beating the other Gold award winner which was the Hawkins Construction project, Waitomo Caves Visitors Centre). Knoll Ridge Cafe then went on to win the SUPREME Award for the Waikato RMB 2011 Commercial Project of the year.
Stanley Construction also took out the much sought after Life Member Award which is given out to just one outstanding project each year for "Construction Excellence in workmanship, creativity and innovation".
An extraordinary result totaling four awards on the night. A great testament to everyone involved on the project team.
Many thanks to RAL along with Stanley's who allowed us to be part of the team which delivered this award winning project, that we are all proud of.
We're all looking forward to the National Gala Awards on the 19th of November.

24.03.2011 - hb architecture in "the whangarei report" draft design strategy aimed at experts
'Draft design strategy aimed at experts' - Grant was one of four industry experts to send a submission in response to the Whangarei District Councils Draft Urban Design Strategy.
All four submissions where in favour of the WDC initiative with the future possibilities for the city looking very exciting. The council said they sort submissions from technical experts who are knowledgeable and well qualified to comment at a strategic level. The strategy is intended to set the framework for other strategic documents, initiatives and projects that the district council hopes to do for different sectors of the community.

Harris Butt Architecture has received a NZIA local architecture award in the category of small project architecture at the 2010 New Zealand Institute of Architects Awards. The new toilet block at Waitangi Treaty Grounds was one of only a hand full of projects recognised within the northland region.
30.07.2010 - asb northland sports house opened
About 150 people gathered at the newly completed ASB Northland Sports House to celebrate its opening at Kensington Park.
The new building will act as a sports administrator's "hub", housing other sporting organisations such as Bowls New Zealand, Golf Northland and Squash Northland, as well as the largest occupant and the driving force behind its construction, Sport Northland.

Opua Maritime Building was opened by Far North District Council Mayor Wayne Brown. The New Opua Maritime building is located on the Opua Wharf and includes new office and retail space.

26.06.2010 - new knoll ridge cafe facilities open to the public
The toilet facilities in the basement level of the new cafe have been opened to the public today. Access to these much need facilities will be through the lower level entry while work continues on the remainder of the facility which should be open to the public mid August.
